UNIX tools for real men

Yesterday, when creating Planet UNIX-AG, I mis-symlinked my files and ended up with the Planet Fachschaftsumfeld configuration overwritten. (Thank you, Christoph, for pointing this out!) So, thanks to this (and the competence of our fabulous admin Maurice), I had the chance to learn the basic usage of the dsmc backup tool:

dsmc restore -ina -pick filename ./

dsmc restore -ina -pick filename newfilename

It certainly conveys a very crude feeling, including a DOS-like chooser and waiting time for real robots that automatically fetch tapes! Wow! :-)

A picture is worth a thousand words.

This certainly gives you that special caveman technology feeling... But it works! :-)
