Link-O-Rama and a Certificate
(mixed German and English here)
- The Feynman Lectures on Physics (Caltech)
This looks like it will take a while to read, but someone like the otherwise anonymous Mr. I. may have an easier time with it. :)
And I would rather disagree with [...] that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. [...] We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.
- Don't use Hadoop, your data isn't that big.
This post answers the question: What data storage should you use depending on the size of your data set? Related to a previous blog post. This also matches my experience.
- Hacking Transcend WiFi SD Cards.
WiFi SD cards are SD cards that transmit WiFi signals from within your camera, so that you don't need to take them out to transfer your photos. Technically, they have a tiny Linux system inside them. This blogger managed to break into his SD card (which was only minimally secured). The article is an entertaining read, even with little security background. :)
Entertainingly creepy certificates
Currently, there's lots of fuzz about mass surveillance on the internet, and also about secret services using Man-In-the-Middle attacks to tamper with your SSL connections.
One of the major newspapers publishing stories about this is «The Guardian».
But what happens if you try to connect to the Guardian's HTTPS site, https://www.theguardian.com/?
This happens. Hah! |
(What's going on? I'll leave it as exercise for the reader.)
