About
KBibTeX is a BibTeX editor for KDE to edit bibliographies used with LaTeX.
Features include comfortable input masks, starting web queries (e. g. Google or PubMed) and exporting to PDF, PostScript, RTF and XML/HTML.
As KBibTeX is using KDE's KParts technology, KBibTeX can be embedded into Kile or Konqueror.
It has been written by Thomas Fischer and is released under the GPL 2.
Submitted to kde-apps.org and freshmeat.net.
Google Scholar
Due to recent changes in the Google Scholar website, the Google Scholar search in KBibTeX (up to including 0.2.2 and SVN revision 931) does no longer work. Newer SVN snapshots (starting from 932) contain a rewritten Google Scholar search code which requires some testing from the KBibTeX community. An updated stable version of KBibTeX will be released once the new code has been proven stable and functional.
KBibTeX's current implementation to fetch BibTeX data from Google Scholar is rather fragile, as it requests and parses various websites from Google and handles redirections and cookies. Unfortunately, there is no easy and robust alternative available. For more information on this matter, please refer to the discussion on Google's Ajax APIs for Google Scholar.
