variables

   Usage: variables [user] | vars [user]

Displays the variables of the given user. If no user is given then your variables are displayed. If your "mode" variable is set to "novice", the output of this command will be more verbose. If "mode" is set to "expert" the output will be in abbreviated form.

You can change your environment variables by using the "set" command.

VARIABLE INFORMATION
Name Function
automail If non-zero the score of your games will be mailed to you upon completion.
bell If non-zero a ^G or bell will be sent when a board update is done.
formula Defines an expression which filters match requests. See "help formula".
f1,... ,f9 User-defined formula variables. See "help formula".
ginform If non-zero you will be informed when games begin or end.
highlight If non-zero player's names who tell you stuff will be highlighted.
inc This is the default value of the "increment" parameter for the match command.
kibitz If non-zero you will hear kibitzes.
mailmessage If non-zero messages will be emailed to your email-address.
mode NOVICE or EXPERT. Toggles the output of several commands (eg variables, see above)
open If non-zero you are willing to accept match requests.
pinform If non-zero, you will be informed when users connect or disconnect to the server.
private If non-zero then all games you play will be private regardless of your opponents "private" variable.
prompt This string will be your prompt. Use "set prompt" to restore the system default.
rated This is the default value of the "rated" parameter for the match command. If set to 1, your match offers will be rated.
rating Your Offical rating.
ratingtype DWZ or ELO or USCF or OTHER sets the king of offical rating. default is DWZ.
realname Your real name. Please only change it if it is incorrect.
ropen If zero, you are only open to challenges that match your "rated" variable.
seek If non-zero you will hear seek requests (See help seek).
shout If non-zero you will hear shouts.
simopen If non-zero, you are willing to accept simul requests. This variable is always set to 0 when you log in.
style The style of board to use. Do 'help style' to see the list.
tell You will hear unregistered tell's and say's.
time This is the default value of the "time" parameter for the match command.
tourney Mark or unmark you as player in a tournament.
1-10 This sets your plan information that is displayed when someone fingers you. You can set these to an arbitrary string, for example your real name, email address, hobbies etc.
